Stop the Eversource Pipeline Social Media Toolkit: Week 3

This is the final week leading up to the Rally to Stop the Pipeline on April 9th! We need to get the word out about this rally and why we need to stop this pipeline!

Hereโ€™s how you can help:

  • Like, comment on, and share posts about the campaign to stop the Eversource pipeline! The more interaction that a post receives, the more likely it is to show up on other peopleโ€™s feeds/timelines, so let’s boost posts about the pipeline and spread the word! You can find them on social media platforms by searching for the tags #NoSpringfieldLongmeadowPipeline and #StopTheSLP
  • Make a social media post of your own! You can use the sample language and graphics below to make your post, or you can use your own words. Just remember to use one or both of these tags, so that other people can find your post: #NoSpringfieldLongmeadowPipeline and #StopTheSLP
  • Come to our rally against the pipeline on April 9th at 1 pm outside of the Federal Courthouse Building at 300 State St in Springfield
  • Spread the word about our rally on April 9th! You can find the flyer with all of the info about the rally HERE
  • Ask people to reach out to groups they are part of to see if they want to co-sponsor the rally: https://forms.gle/tuYEVbub2YUi6w8z8

We are at a critical moment, teetering at the edge of climate catastrophe. Yet Eversource plans a new natural gas pipeline, larger and higher pressure than any existing pipelines in Springfield.  It is a fossil fuel expansion project, not a โ€œreliability projectโ€. Methane, the main component of natural gas, is a greenhouse gas 80 times more potent than carbon dioxide over 20 years. We need to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions as fast as we can, not invest $35-35 million in a climate-killing fossil fuel expansion project. This is a dangerous and irresponsible project. Come join us at a rally on April 9th at 1 pm at the Federal Courthouse building in Springfield to demand that Eversource cancel this pipeline project!

Last year, Massachusetts took vital steps to respond to the climate crisis by passing the Climate Roadmap bill which mandates a 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and net zero by 2050. Yet @EversourceMA wants to drag us in the wrong direction by building the unhealthy, unnecessary, and climate changing Springfield-Longmeadow pipeline. How does Eversource plan to meet emissions reductions standards after building a new pipeline, especially when they wouldnโ€™t be breaking ground until 2024? Why is Eversource willing to sacrifice the wellbeing of both people and the planet to make more money? Come join us at a rally on April 9th at 1 pm at the Federal Courthouse building in Springfield to demand that Eversource cancel this pipeline!
